How often can I smoke my (tobacco) pipe?

just bough my first briar pipe and would like to know how often I can smoke it? I only have the one. Also what happens if i smoke it more often?

1. If you want all types of cancer and girls running away from you left and right, I say smoke every chance you get!!
2. Uh, you could smoke it all day long if you want to. More often? Uh, well, you'll probably become dependent on nicotine. It'll also increase your risk of getting cancer, but probably not as much as cigarettes. You'll smell like someone's great grandfather, too.
3. It is generally believed you should only smoke a briar once a day and let it rest, (dry out). Moisture is driven out of the tobacco by the heat and it enters the pipe. Every toss a damp rock into a camp fire? It can crack, split or explode. Your pipe won't likely explode but it can crack and split. Get yourself a couple of cobs. They are cheap and you can smoke them all day long if you like. If a four dollar cob breaks it's no great loss to replace.
4. You will only want to smoke that pipe once a day. It needs to rest. You need to purchase a few more briar's for your collection. If you smoke it to much, you can sour your pipe.
