How can I 'dumb' myself down a bit for my boyfriend?

Today my boyfriend piped up about a new Italian restaurant that he wanted to take me to, I asked him what it was called. After finding out I mentioned absentmindedly that I had been there before and that it wasn't that great. Later on that day he mentioned something else and I knew about it. My boyfriend was born and raised in a small city where I recently moved to two years ago, he has never traveled outside of the country and only been one city over. I love him to death but he frustratedly bought it up to me that he can never tell me anything new and that he feels like I know everything. I never realized that I was hurting him, should I just think before I speak? Pretend to not know much and go with the flow? I'm new at this serious relationship thing and its really hard but I'm hoping you all can give me a few pointers.

1. don't dumb yourself down for any guy. but also, don't jump to correct him or make him feel like the lesser person in the relationship. think before you speak and all will be well
2. .Just explain to him that you've lived more places and it's not odd you might be aware of things that are new to him. Don't dumb yourself down for anyone, but it's also not necessary to say "I know" every time he opens his mouth...be selective in what you say and how you let him know you are already aware of something or it may come across as you trying to make him feel inferior or less worldly than you. He should understand that chances are high you'll know about things or have experienced things he hasn't, but you need to consider how you express that to him.
3. hi i don't think pretending to don't know is really right , imagine if he discovered it he will get really upset , or put the situation in reverse , would you like your boyfriend to pretend something he is not just to make you feel better ( its kinda of lying ) speaking of myself i wont do it . i think he will find something else to tell you about , besides restaurants ( places in your town ) find stuff he know a lot about ( stuff he likes ) and ask him about it and show that you are interested in it ( also don't pretend if you don't like ) but before that i think you should talk to him about it , comfort him and let him know that it doest really matter and you still think he is very smart ( you know ) hope i helped
