Why do i have a numb tongue from pipe tobacco smoking?
I recently took up smoking pipe tobacco. I don't inhale and smoke 1 bowl every day or two. But recently the end of my tongue feels numb, almost like its been burned, and there are a few tiny bumps on it that weren't there before... anyone know what's happening??? i mean am i just smoking it too hard?

- It does sound a bit like you're being burned.....
- Thats the beginning stage of hair growing,
- You dummy! You're putting the wrong end of the pipe in your mouth! Next time check to see if it's hot first...Hot end no go to mouth!
- Yes, you are smoking to hard and experiencing "tongue bite". Pipe tobacco is meant to be smoked slowly. Another issue you may have, is the pack of tobacco in your pipe may be to tight or to loose. When I am smoking my pipe I puff about once every 10 to 20 seconds. It depends on how hot my pipe gets, or the smoke itself. I have also included a link to pipe smoking 101, to further assist you. Watch the videos they are nice and informative. http://smokingpipetobacco.com/2009/05/pipe-smoking-101-video-news/ Don't get discouraged though, pipe smoking takes time and experience. It takes time learn how to smoke a pipe properly.
